Widgetable
A social widget app. Think of it as the App Store for home-screen widgets. It’s the highlight of my career: for the first six months, I was the entire growth team.
Results
- #1 overall on the US App Store on day one, for about a week.
- 1M+ new users in week one, still growing exponentially.
- 300M organic views in a year, creator content included, at a $1.2 CPM.
- 30%+ of videos hit 300K+ views, every week.
What I did
- Built the KOL program alone and worked with 3,000+ creators.
- Turned hit-making into a pipeline. From month four, I tested templates on our own TikTok accounts, kept the formats that won, then had creators scale them.
- The company still runs on this system, years after I left.
- From 2023, pushed engineering to build tools that find creators who truly fit the product.
What I learned
- Content is the most honest PMF test. Widgets with real demand exploded. The rest went nowhere.
- Give people a way to say who they are. A shared-pet widget says “my boyfriend loves me”, not “nice app”.
- I hired too late. The playbook worked by month seven or eight, and my own hours became the ceiling.
